Police officer booked for raping colleague on false promise of marriage

The lady officer alleged that the male officer promised marriage and raped her

A complaint was registered against a Mumbai Police officer on Saturday. Reportedly, the cop, who is an Assistant Police Inspector (API), allegedly raped a colleague under the pretext of marriage in Mumbai's Dongri area.

The lady officer lodged a complaint of rape and cheating. She alleged that the male officer promised marriage and raped her.

Further, as per reports, an offence has been registered under sections 376 (rape) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC and relevant provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Further probe is underway.
